Project Overview

Elmwood Park Defender Company #2 – Elmwood Park, NJ

22,000 Watts-DC System

Who They Are

The Elmwood Park Fire Department was founded in 1908, when the borough was formerly known as Dundee Lake, as a volunteer fire company with one apparatus. The borough evolved into East Paterson in 1916, and then into Elmwood Park in 1972. Today the fire department has four independent defender fire companies with six apparatus, that serve 19,000 residents and local business owners.

How We Helped

As a non-profit, Elmwood Park Defender Company #2 was looking for ways to reduce their energy costs and save money for their organization. Castle Energy suggested a favorable Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), which allowed them to receive discounted electricity produced over a designated period of time from the solar panels. Castle Energy also brought in an investment group to build out the project, as well as own and operate the solar system on behalf of the fire company. Project installation partner: RCL Solar.
